Comm Fellow 2018-2022
Collins Lab, BE, Broad
Ian started his PhD in Biological Engineering at MIT in 2016 after graduating from the University of Washington with a degree in bioengineering. He is an NSF Fellow and currently works in the Collins Lab, where he studies strategies for treating antibiotic-tolerant infections. In the spring of 2018, he was the teaching assistant for 20.380, Biological Engineering Design.
Ian first developed his appreciation for scientific communication while presenting in science fairs in high school. Through those presentations, he saw that communication of research was an essential component of being able to have a direct and meaningful impact on his community. Originally from Alaska, Ian enjoys getting outdoors to run, hike, and ski. Outside of lab, Ian also enjoys long walks through arboreta, the performing arts, and curating his bow tie collection.
