Comm Lab Fellow
Nithin Reddy is a third year graduate student in the Mechanical Engineering Department and a first year MechE Comm Lab Fellow. He researches next-gen applications for passive RFID tags and ambient energy harvesters to create low-cost sensing platforms for the Internet of Things. Such inexpensive and scalable sensor tags will enable augmenting billions of everyday objects to extend human interaction with machines and objects in the environment.
Before MIT, he grew up in India and graduated with bachelors from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. He has broad experience in research and manufacturing industry. Before grad school, he worked with ITC Ltd., Indian major in fast moving consumer goods, as an assistant manufacturing manager, where helped to set up a manufacturing plant for ITC’s foods business in Bangalore.
Outside of research, he enjoys sports, volunteering and outreach activities, science communication, following technology and politics, and participation in various student groups.
